now that we have the swing tickets and business cards it really feels as if scraps’ life has really begun after much talk and thought……..

scraps all began from a mix of ideas that are from different aspects of my life that all fit in together at some point….,

my son, now 4, as well as myself have had to put up with rather dire choice in clothes for boys, so with all the bits and pieces and scraps of cloth and old clothes i started to create new small clothes for him.

also the fact that we are all caught up in a consumerist state of being, there is so, so much unused, perfectly good stuff out there just waiting to be reused, why encourage more and more and more to be made when we have loads of stuff hanging around just wasting away? i see it as if its all waiting for a new home and that ‘new home is my studio!

and then, my infatuation and utter love of secondhand shops, since i was a little girl i remember the excitement of looking through other peoples thrown out old clothes and turning them into my own creations…… what joy!
all these reasons have now brought me to this place.

SCRAPS

scraps is very unique in that all the garments created are made from what is available at the time, so it’s 1 of a kind that you will get (unless we find a bigish piece of cloth that happens to allow say 3 pairs of pants be cut out of it). but what i am getting at is everything you see is going to be different although similar in style……

now these “recycled” clothes……..brand new boys clothes which girls can wear too, are ready to show themselves to the world.
